Voorbeeldroute: van Blanes naar Tossa de Mar
Het stuk kust tussen Blanes en Tossa de Mar is het zuidelijkste deel van de Costa Brava en zit vol kleine baaien die je over land nauwelijks bereikt. Een klassieke dagtocht ziet er zo uit:
- Ochtend – vertrek uit de haven van Blanes: vaar noordwaarts langs de rots Sa Palomera, het startpunt van de Costa Brava.
- Zwemstop bij Cala Sant Francesc: een kleine, beschutte baai met helder water en dennenbomen tot aan het strand.
- Langs Lloret de Mar: bekijk de kustlijn met het kasteel en de rotsbaaitjes aan weerszijden van het grote strand.
- Middag – Tossa de Mar: het middeleeuwse vestingstadje Vila Vella op de rots is vanaf zee een van de mooiste plaatjes van Spanje.
- Terugweg met tussenstops: onderweg terug liggen nog meer stille baaitjes voor een laatste duik.
Verder naar het noorden liggen Calella de Palafrugell, de Medes-eilanden en het ruige Cap de Creus. De Medes-eilanden zijn een beschermd zeereservaat met eigen regels voor ankeren en duiken.
Lokale regels en tips aan de Costa Brava
- Zwemzones: voor de stranden liggen in de zomer gele boeien. Daarbinnen is varen niet toegestaan; buiten de zones houd je dicht bij de kust een lage snelheid aan.
- Tramontana: de noordenwind kan in korte tijd opsteken, vooral in het noordelijke deel. Check de weersverwachting en volg het advies van je verhuurder.
- Rotsen en ondiepten: veel baaien zijn rotsachtig. Nader de kust rustig en anker op zand, niet op rotsen of zeegras.
- Zonder vaarbewijs: kleinere motorboten zijn vaak zonder vaarbewijs te huren, met een beperkt vaargebied langs de kust.
