Boot of jetski huren op Aruba

Boating in Aruba: the highlights

  • Palm Beach and Eagle Beach – sheltered water on the west coast, perfect for water sports.
  • Wreck of the Antilla – one of the largest shipwrecks in the Caribbean, popular with snorkellers.
  • Boca Catalina and Arashi – quiet little bays in the north-west with plenty of tropical fish.

Practical information

  • Best time: All year round. Aruba lies outside the hurricane belt and has a dry climate with a constant trade wind.
  • Departure point: most trips depart from Palm Beach.
  • Boating licence: whether you need a licence depends on the type of boat and the local rules. Read what you need to go boating.
  • Type of boat: from motorboats and speedboats to jet skis or boats with a skipper. See the types of boats and jet skis.

Popular boat trips on Aruba

  • Snorkelling trip along the west coast: from Palm Beach to the Antilla wreck, Boca Catalina and Arashi.
  • Mangel Halto: a calm lagoon with mangroves on the south coast, popular with snorkellers.
  • Baby Beach: a shallow, sheltered bay in the south-east near San Nicolas.
  • Sunset cruise: a relaxed trip along Palm Beach and Eagle Beach as the sun sinks into the sea.

Tips for boating on Aruba

  • Thanks to the constant trade wind, the west coast (the leeward side) is the calmest. The north coast is rough and not suitable for small boats.
  • In the morning the water is often calmer and underwater visibility is at its best.
  • Protect the reef: don't anchor on coral and use reef-safe sunscreen.
  • Bring plenty of water and sun protection: the wind makes you feel the strong sun less.
